Check out these links!

Of the many links we are exploring, here are three more that I think are excellent, clear examples of ways teachers have used the Internet in their classes:

1) http://www.malhatlantica.pt/teresadeca/school/spiritofxmas.htm

The Spirit of Christmas - An enjoyable summary of a cultural exchange by email between a 6th grade class of Portuguese students and American 5th graders. Read the original emails of the teachers as they established the parameters of the exchange, as well as the original messages from the students themselves. (The Portuguese students were only beginning their second year of English, and it was their first experience interacting with a whole class! Bravo!)
Thanks to Teresa Almeida d'Eça for this posting and to those involved in the exchange!

2) http://projects.edtech.sandi.net/brooklyn/animals/

Animals and Me - A great example of a webquest from San Diego for a simple kindergarten level language arts unit that also includes science concepts. Uses Venn diagrams and rubrics. Follow the link for teachers at the top left for easy-to-follow rationale and explanation.
Thanks to Amie Garcia for a great lesson!

3) http://atueli.blogspot.com/

ELI Student Network - A blog in action! See how a teacher at Arkansas Tech University English Language Institute is currently using space at blogger.com to post assignments for students, links for extra practice, his own course syllabi and even the institute's monthly calendar! Notice how the class uses the site as a bulletin board by following the students' comments or by looking at their blogs to see how they post. (Imagine using this tool for peer editing!)
Thanks to Josh Durey and his students for all their work!

I hope you find these interesting and useful. Feel free to post any comments or ideas for other teachers here! Happy exploring --

Howdy!
